Dalhousie parking meters are located on and around campus. Meters are  in operation from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Meter fees are not required after 5 p.m., or on weekends and statutory holidays (this applies to all parking in Halifax).

Taxi

There are many cab companies in Halifax, to which we have made recommendations. Most cabs arrive within 5 minutes of placing a call. Unfortunately there is no Uber in Nova Scotia (sad trombone).

Casino Taxi  902-429-6666 or 902-425-6666 (takes cash, credit and debit, also has an app)

Yellow Cab  902-420-0000 (takes cash, credit and debit)

General Information

Halifax may be considered quieter at night than other cities, although Argyle Street and Spring Garden Road remain bustling into the wee hours. We recommend that attendees sight-see and travel with a partner or group.

Halifax boasts having the ‘most bars per capita’ in Canada. From English-style pubs to rock venues, there’s something for everyone. Most bar establishments close at 2am, many serving food until then as well.

Taxes, Tipping, etc

Nova Scotia has 15% HST.

It is customary to tip 15-20% of your bill amount for dining. It is also customary to tip taxi drivers, valets, housekeeping and other hospitality workers.
